Side is a tourist town on the coast of the Mediterranean. It is located between Antalya (west) and Alanya (east). Below is a list of things to do and see in Side.
Shopping
Side is very touristy. This means there are many shops where you can buy all kinds of products. For example, Side is known for the good quality leather that you can get there and there are shopping malls with many small shops.
Temple of Apollo
The Temple of Apollo is considered one of the most beautiful ancient remains in Turkey. This has largely to do with the location of the temple. This temple dedicated to the god of light and music is located on the corner of the peninsula on which Side is built.
The moment the sun sets, the temple, in combination with the different colors of the sky in the background, produces magically beautiful pictures. It is said that this was the place where the Egyptian queen Cleopatra have met her beloved Mark Antony. The site also contains a ruin of a temple to Athena, the goddess of wisdom, science and war.
Harbor of Side
The main street of the former fishing town of Side leads you the way to the harbor. The old port has been very important to the city for many years. Fish used to bring in a lot of money and now tourists. Various excursions to various destinations depart daily from the port of Side. Next to the harbor are the ruins of the temples of Apollo and Athena.
